The Banks Community Fund

Capital items with a lasting benefit for groups in close proximity to a Banks Group operation, especially those in Tow Law, Wolsingham, West Cornforth and Cramlington.

The Banks Group Community Revenue

Capital items with lasting benefit for groups situated within close proximity to a current or proposed Banks Group operation. Projects must be within 10-miles from a landfill site and are funded in accordance with Entrust criteria.

Francis James Bell Fund

Supporting diabetic research. Bursaries to support students or staff of any medical institution in Darlington, Durham or the wider North East who need financial assistance.

Grainger Educational Trust

Provides book tokens and/or books for school prizes.

Guy Readman/Tor Coatings

Supports young people up to the age of 21 (although exceptional candidates can be supported above this age) from disadvantaged backgrounds (i.e. ex-offenders or young carers) that show initiative and need help to achieve their own potential, or to excel in a particular skill or ability. It will also help young people who are undertaking volunteer work with Project Trust with a small donation.

Welfare grants to families in need to help keep the family together and hardship grants for education and welfare are made to individuals who are, or who have been, in care.

Young People and Education

Supports voluntary sector organisations, charities, schools, further education colleges and other agencies working directly with disadvantaged young people (aged up to 25) for non-statutory activity that will:

  • Demonstrate active learning from the pilot that can be applied elsewhere and have an idea of how to achieve this.
  • Achieve a multi-agency approach to their work
  • Pilot innovative new schemes that tangibly improve young peoples lives and expectations, helping them to:
    1. Be healthy.
    2. Access more education and learning, particularly encouraging marginalised or disengaged young people to get involved in activities that will improve self-esteem, help them to achieve, offer new opportunities and experiences whilst increasing their aspirations.
    3. Become an active citizen and make a positive contribution to society.
    4. Stay safe and avoid harm.
