Dawdon 2nd Scout Group

Dawdon 2nd Scouts enjoying an activity weekend

“This was an experience that none of our children, or leaders will ever forget. It has not only improved how the children view themselves and improved their confidence, but it has also raised their expectations and aspirations for the future. Thank you so very much”

The Dawdon 2nd Seaham Scout group was established in 1993. It was set up to support the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social, and spiritual potential. The group aims to support young people towards becoming responsible citizens and realise their potential as valuable members of their local community.

Dawdon 2nd Scouts on a boad in LochgoilheadThe group received £4,864 to fund a short activity weekend at the Lochgoilhead centre in Scotland.

A total of 24 children and young people were able to attend, along with 7 volunteers. The children were able to take part in a range of activities including rock climbing, abseiling and canoeing. As the majority of the young people who attend the Scout group come from low income families, this opportunity would not have otherwise been available. This experience boosted their confidence and helped to raise their aspirations.

The children were more than happy to give us their feedback from the event

"I slept nearly all the way back and was really glad to get home but I had a great time and I would love to go again"
