County Durham Ice Foundation

When the ice rink in Durham City shut down in 1996 a group was founded with the aim of bringing the ice back; County Durham Ice Foundation was born. The purpose of the group is to act, as a voice for the likeminded people in County Durham who enjoyed regular visits to the rink while it was open. At the moment the group has the support of 1000 members.

The Ice Foundation were given £4,350 which allowed them to purchase mobile display boards, increase communication with their existing members and gain new members. The money also went towards improving their website and paying volunteer expenses.

It is hoped that with the help from this grant, the County Durham Ice Foundation will achieve their target of 3000 additional members by the end of next year.
