The group received £6,027 from County Durham Foundation to cover the cost of room hire and tuition fees to ensure the continuation of their project.

Seaham Rock Bands Project provide their beneficiaries with high quality training in song writing and ensemble playing as well as giving them experience of live performance and networking with other youth music groups in the region.

Young people have learnt to play bass, drums, guitar through expert one to one and group tuition from professional tutors and five bands have formed as a result of the project.

In such a short space of time, all the young people in the bands have already started to take part in public performances. This experience has really given their confidence a boost and enabled them to realise their full potential. The chairman of the group Dave Young explains what difference the County Durham Foundation funding will make;

"We would like to thank County Durham Foundation for the grant we received. The funding will assist us to employ the tutors in the continuation of the project and we are hoping to expand in the near future to get more young people involved in this worthwhile project. "
