County Durham Foundation has supported hundreds of community and voluntary organisations working with young people, and distributed millions of pounds that have directly benefited them.

Despite this, young people in our County still struggle against the odds, and need our help to allow them to reach their potential through offering increased access to learning opportunities and aspirational experiences. Young people in County Durham are not less bright or able than elsewhere in the country, and yet they continuously fall behind in national education attainment, and more and more of them are growing up with limited hopes and expectations.

The future of County Durham, both economic and social lies with our future generations. By enabling those from more disadvantaged backgrounds to attain educational and personal success, County Durham can progress towards a brighter future. County Durham Foundation aims to place a major emphasis on helping local young people during the next ten years, and to play our part in giving them a brighter future.
