Montage of some of the groups we have helpedApply For A Grant

We have over 80 different funds that you are able to apply to with one main application form for groups and a further application form for groups working with children and young people. We mix-and-match applications to the most appropriate fund behind the scenes, so you don’t need to worry about which fund is right for you. If in doubt, please telephone the office before you submit an application.

We give money to all districts in County Durham and Darlington: Chester-le-Street, Derwentside, Durham City, Easington, Sedgefield, Teesdale, Wear Valley and Darlington.

Current Grant Programmes

County Durham Foundation always has a variety of grant programmes running with new ones being added all the time. We support groups, projects and individuals mainly in County Durham and Darlington, although you may be eligible for one of our individual grants if you live in the north east. You can hold more than one grant from us at a time from different funds. You do not have to be a registered charity to receive a grant from us, but you must be a not-for-profit organisation that is benevolent, charitable or philanthropic established to alleviate disadvantage in your local community.

Please check this list to ensure that we have money available to support what you wish to apply for before submitting an application. Also remember to check this list regularly – remember new funds are added all the time.

New procedure for Group and Project Applications

An Expression of Interest form should be completed in the first instance instead of a full application form. If County Durham Foundation feels that your project meets the criteria for one of its funds we will then request that you complete a full application. This system will ensure that you do not spend time completing a full and detailed application for a project that may not be supported.

Please note that the following funds do not require the completion of an Expression of Interest form:

The Banks Group
We also operate two funds on behalf of HJ Banks & Co ltd which have their own application form and guidelines. The Sheraton Park Community Benefits Fund and The Banks Community Fund.
