Grants for Groups

County Durham Foundation always has a variety of grant programmes running with new ones being added all the time. We mix-and-match applications to the most appropriate fund behind the scenes, so you don’t need to worry about which fund is right for you. If in doubt, please telephone the office on 0191 383 0055 before you submit an application.

What we will fund

We support groups and projects mainly in County Durham and Darlington, although you may still be eligible for a grant from the Banks Community Fund or the Esh Charitable Trust if you live outside the area.

All of our funds have different criteria and maximum grant limits.

REMEMBER:

You do not have to be a registered charity to receive a grant from us, but you must be a not-for-profit organisation that is benevolent, charitable or philanthropic, established to alleviate disadvantage in your local community.

Apply for a grant

Step 1. If you haven't already, please read our list of current funds and grant programmes to ensure we have money to support your particular project.

Step 2. If you haven't already please download our full guidelines to ensure that you are eligible.

Step 3. Please fill out an Expression of Interest Form. You can do this in two ways: by filling in our online form or by downloading a pdf version to fill in and post to us at:

Step 4. Sit back and wait to hear from us. We will look at your Expression of Interest form and if we feel that your project meets the criteria for one of our funds we will then request that you complete a full application. This system will ensure that you do not spend time completing a full and detailed application for a project that may not be supported.
