Testimonials From Grant Recipients

Crookhall, Delves Lane & Consett East Community Partnership

The Community Group were awarded £575 to contribute towards the cost of arts and crafts materials for Pergamano classes.

Sherburn Road Community Action Partnership

In order to fund all costs of setting up a domestic violence support project for a six-month period, the Community Action Partnership received £6,795.

“This project has totally transformed the lives of the children who have come into contact with it. Through helping to remove them from an abusive environment and helping them come to terms with what they have suffered and witnessed the children and young people are now able to deal with their past and look forward to their future.”

Evenwood Cricket Club

Evenwood Cricket Club received £2,500, enabling them to purchase a second-hand roller for the upkeep of their cricket field.

“On behalf of LCC, I would like to thank you for supporting the club and awarding us this grant. The roller is without doubt, the most useful piece of equipment we could have purchased and will help keep the game alive in Evenwood and proving a much needed sporting outlet for our youngsters.”

Newton Aycliffe Mobility Club

County Durham Foundation provided the Mobility Club with £1,215, which contributed towards a group visit to both a disability seminar at Wainstone Hall and a pantomime, in order to help tackle social isolation.

“The grant has enabled a better communication amongst us all, a community spirit and a sense of real achievement, independent living, an awareness of people with disabilities. Social interaction and communication is vital to the members of this group and events such as these can only enhance and reinforce their well being.”

Age Concern Gold Collective Club

A sum of £1,355 was used by the Collective Club to provide coach hire for six group outings, as well as subsidising meals for 25 of the club’s elderly members.

“On behalf of the club and all the ladies we wish to thank you for giving us the chance to join in various activities and outings that would not have been possible without the grant. It has certainly given our members some quality and interest in life and enabled them to get out of their houses, hence improving their mental health and general well being.”

Stanhope Castle School Charitable Trust

We supported a group of young people to go on an activity holiday to Scotland, which gives young people the opportunity to participate in a range of cultural, artistic, and leisure activities. The project manager gave the following comment:

“May I take this opportunity to thank you for your kind donation. This helped towards the funding of an unforgettable holiday for the young people. Who otherwise would not have experienced such an activity based holiday. Your donation helped to provide a positive and rewarding holiday for all our young people and once again may I thank you not only from the staff but importantly from the young people.”

Donnini House Social Club

Donnini House aim to promote social and personal development for people who are based in and around their area. They used a £2,480 grant to convert and extend an existing area to include a landscaped small garden, greenhouse, patio, seating area and barbeque.

“Just a quick note to let you know how proud myself and all my members are of our communal garden. Without your help this would not have been possible and I cannot put in words the difference it has made to all our quality of lives. We gather each morning with our coffee and have a general chitchat and we are now operating as a big happy family as we have our own piece of paradise, you will never know how much you have changed this community, we now sit enjoying ourselves with smiles on our faces. A very very big thank you from every one of us to you and your company for making our dream come true. Thank you very much.”
