Wolsingham
Methodist Church is a registered charity based in the Wear Valley District
within Wolsingham Village which has a population of approx. 3,000.
Although a well-maintained building, centrally placed in the village,
the church had become dated and no longer met the standards and expectations
of present day users. The Church contacted the Banks Community Foundation
after being approached by community groups and individuals who wished
to use the premises.

The Banks Community Fund made a grant of £5,000 which enabled the church to make the changes and improvements needed to update the building so that groups and individuals could use the Church as a community facility.
The
grant covered the cost of a new notice board and removing the static pews
and replacing them with chairs which enables the area used for worship
to double-up as a large community hall and multi purpose area. This being
part of a bigger picture, which included replacing the heating system
which had been condemned, building a ramp, accessible toilets, installing
a loop system, new lighting and converting one of the side vestries into
a kitchen area with hot drinks and cooking facilities.
